Intense sparring for Conor McGregor

He might be coming off an epic win, but Conor McGregor isn’t taking it easy as he trains to battle Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.

The UFC featherweight champion has been sparring against outsized opponents—some 20–30 lbs heavier than him—to prepare for his fight against Alvarez, the current UFC lightweight champion. And, as is his style, McGregor has been documenting some of those sessions on his YouTube page:

McGregor gets in some head shots, hard punches, and—of course—some trash talk:

“I don’t think he’s going to last anywhere near the fifth round,” McGregor says of Alvarez, comparing it to his five-round rematch against Nate Diaz. “If he does, he’ll never fight again. If he does, I’ll take my hat off to his heart. But he’ll never ever ever be the same again. If he can make it to the fifth, that’s when I take off. I’m sprinting in the fifth. I’m ready.”

If McGregor wins, he’ll become the first UFC fighter to hold two titles simultaneously, although UFC President and Men’s Fitness cover star Dana White said that McGregor will have to give up one of those belts if he does prevail.

With Ronda Rousey thinking about the end of her career, McGregor is one of the most important faces in the future of the sport.

Winning another belt would be a nice way to stay on top.
